Welcome to DEBTsafe

DEBTsafe has been created to try and eliminate the "won’t pay" customers in the childcare sector. We are aware that some people leave their childcare provider owing quite large sums of money. They then enrol with another provider and the process starts again. The original provider is then left to try and recover the debts owed to them. Ultimately they can use the Small Claims court procedures, but this can be very frustrating and extremely costly, in time and money, especially when considering that winning your case does not mean you will necessarily get paid.

DEBTsafe allows its members to register bad debts on a central database. Members can also interrogate the records to see if potential new customers have left debts at previous settings. If they find an open record they can then decide the best action to take. This could be a refusal to take them on, or to ask for a deposit large enough to cover your risk

As part of your membership you will receive a DEBTsafe logo to display in your setting. This, in itself, will be an effective deterrent to people who have defaulted with other providers.
